This page should tell you everything you need to know about the process of creating your Very Simple Website. If you have any questions which are not covered here, please check our FAQs page.

How much does it cost?

What do you get?

An initial VerySimpleWebsite includes the customisation of a template using your logo/imagery and the construction of a site consisting of up to 4 "sections"; for example, this could consist of the following: "Home", "About Us", "Our Products", "Contact Us" (see example images, right).

Every website is different though, so you tell us what "sections" you would like and thats what we'll create.

Additional sections are charged at £20 each, up to 10 sections. For sites larger than this, you need to contact us for a quote based upon your specific requirements.

If you do want a "Contact Us" page, it can include a contact form and a map (or link to a mapping website) if required.

We build you a customised website, using the template of your choice. The site will include your logo, colour scheme, text and any other graphics required.

Although we use a template to begin with, each site is individually constructed and page layouts will be adjusted to best present your content, avoiding that "square peg in a round hole" look that template-based sites often produce. In other words, if we need to adjust the template slightly to fit your logo, or tweak things to fit your content on the page, we will do so. The templates are only a starting point.

Any Extras?

If required your site content will be spelling and grammar-checked, and we can also submit your site to the major search engines - for no extra cost. Please note that this doesn't guarantee any specific position/rank in the search engines, but will get your site "out there" to begin with. There are plenty of options out there for improving your site's rank and/or traffic; we do not sell them but are happy to advise or point you in the right direction if required.

How long will it take?

Assuming we have all the information, files and content required from you, we are currently quoting a turnaround time of 7 days for a standard 4 section site. Larger sites may take slightly longer and we will tell you how long on a per-project basis.

What about domain names and hosting?

We do not sell domain names, or hosting - just Very Simple Websites. We do, however, recommend Cut.co.uk for all your domain name and hosting requirements. We have used Cut for literally 100s of websites and have always been 100% happy with their service. We also think that people who like our straightforward and simple approach to websites will similarly like their straightforward and customer-friendly service. If you do choose to use Cut for the hosting of your new Very Simple Website, then we can pass your details straight on and get your hosting account set up very quickly as part of the process.

How do you pay?

We currently accept payments via PayPal only. If you do not have a PayPal account, don't worry - you can still pay using your regular debit or credit card; just look out for the option when you get to the payment page. We use PayPal as our payment service to keep our costs down, which in turn keeps down the cost of your Very Simple Website. PayPal is safe, secure and you are protected against fraud just like you are with any other payment gateway method.

When do you pay and what is the process?

Upon completion and confirmation of your order, you will be asked to pay 50% of the cost of your website. Once we have received your deposit and you have sent us all required text and graphics, we will begin the construction of your site. When the initial construction is complete, you will receive a number of "screenshots" of your new site, for review. These are basically JPEG images of your site like this which enable you to see what we have built without actually having the source code. You can then suggest any minor amendments which you would like to make (such as text changes or minor layout changes), which we will complete before sending a final set of screenshots for your confirmation. Once you have approved your site design, you pay us the final 50% and we, by return, will provide you the source code for your site.

What stuff do you need to give us?

Our order process will prompt you for some basic contact details, ask you to choose the template you would like to use and give us some basic information about your website. Once your order is submitted you need to send us any of the following items which you would like to be included in your site:

• your company/website logo*
• page text
• any other photos or graphics

* if you don't have a logo, we can create a graphic for you consisting of your company/website name in a snazzy font (a bit like our logo).

You will be given more info on the types/formats of files we can accept and how to send them to us during the order process.

How much content can you have?

Obviously a "page" on a website could scroll on forever, so we have to draw a line somewhere at how much text/graphics you can have in each section of your site, but we like to try and be reasonable. As a rough guide we specify about twice the height of the viewable area on a 1024x768 screen with scrolling, but can be flexible depending upon specifics.

What do you do with your finished site ?

We will provide you with the files that make up your site; these will then need to be hosted somewhere to get your site online. The site we build will be in a standard format supported by 1000s of web hosts, enabling you to take your site to a host of your choice.

Alternatively, we are partnered with Cut and if required we can pass your details straight on and have a website/email hosting account configured for you. If you choose this option, you will be prompted for all the relevant information during our order process. Please note that hosting will be chargeable separately by your chosen host. We do not sell hosting and it is not included in the price of your Very Simple Website.
